Dallas Animal District
Ron was the Guest of Honor as the Dallas, Texas community embraced their new pet-friendly district on April 5th, 2008 at a fundraiser called “An Animal Attraction.” Most people are familiar with the many art, design, or business districts in cities across the United States, but Dallas is the first in the Nation to give their animals a little piece of heaven just fur them, with their new Dallas Animal District (DAD).
To help fundraise for the district, Burns created a portrait of DAD’s mascot, Minnie, which unveiled to thunderous applause the night of the event. “An Animal Attraction” was a great success, and raised a lot of money and awareness for Dallas’ furriest district. Of course, as an animal lover, Dallas Mayor, Tom Leppert, presented Burns with a Special Recognition for his work with animal causes across the country, and couldn’t resist donating to the cause while simultaneously adding to his personal Burns collection!

DAD is the new home of the Texas SPCA, and the new, state-of-the-art, green facility of Dallas Animal Services. The District doesn’t just focus on finding orphaned animals loving homes, however, they are also proposing a large dog park and securing pet product retailers. DAD will serve as a one stop animal adoption, care, and entertainment shop! To show your support of DAD, and get an awesome portrait of Minnie too, please click here.
